Join the board of directors
LACHSA Alumni Association Board Members are voted in by the membership or by special appointment by the Board chair. Candidates are expected to serve a two-year term and attend scheduled board of directors meetings.
Meetings are held monthly (except July and December) and there are typically 10 meetings a year. Meetings are currently held the third Monday of every month*. Board members can miss no more than 2 meetings a year and/or two consecutive meetings.
Annual board retreats in California are scheduled when feasible; attendance is encouraged.
In addition to monthly meetings, board members should expect 1-3 hours per month of additional volunteer time.
This time may be used for any of the following (but not limited to): preparing for board meetings, networking on behalf of LAA, sitting on a committee, attending LACHSA events on behalf of the alumni, etc.
All board members are volunteers. There is no financial compensation or reimbursement to any board member. As a nonprofit organization, volunteer time by board members can be considered a donation and qualify as tax deductions (consult your tax professional for more details).
